Working closely with the Bear Refuge, the project of Volunteers’ Station has been initiated in 2004. It was founded as a place for cultural exchange and sustainable living education. The Volunteers’ Station is a house where volunteers live and work. It is situated close to the centre of the village and the young bear enclosures. Lifestyle is as much as possible sustainable and nature friendly (composting, reusing waste, biodegradable products, local and home-made food, rain water, solar showers, etc).
Velebit Association Kuterevo hosts different kind of activities during year. Kuterevo is a place where both educational and volunteering activities take place. We are hosting individual volunteers, workcamps (with SCI), Alexclub camp, Youth Exchanges, EVS / ESC volunteering, scout groups, Service Civique, and many more.
The volunteers work on different tasks, which depend on season and current priorities. The work also depends on weather and volunteering agreement. Work in mostly outside, maintaining the facilities around Refuge. It includes hard physical work.
